The pulse is a valuable technique from Traditional Chinese Medicine; it helps to gain a deeper insight into the health of the person. Some time is spent taking the pulse, as there are 9 different pulse positions on each wrist, and 28 possible qualities that each pulse can have. So while the pulse rate is important, it is only one small part of what the pulse can tell us. In TCM, terms are used such as, wiry, tight, floating, and slippery; each tells a different storey depending on what position it is found. Pulse positions relate to lung, liver, heart, kidneys and spleen.
