A chance to rest, to become still and relax on all levels. This is especially important this season .All the ancient wisdom traditions advise a slowing down at this time. It really serves us well to do this. It provides the body with an opportunity to heal, and too exercise the relaxation muscle! Something we often forget about doing in the busyness of modern life and of the season. Physiologically this type of practice takes us out of sympathetic nervous system dominance (stress) into parasympathetic dominance (rest and digest), unless we do something to make this switch on a regular basis, we easily become overwhelmed and exhausted! Plenty of deep slow stretching and breathing to bring ease to body and mind and to deeply ground. This is a slow and gentle practice by candlelight, combining yin and restorative yoga and ending with yoga nidra, also known as yogic sleep!
